Robertson Facilities Management (RFM) has been appointed by Wakefield Council for the provision of hard FM services across its corporate estate, which also includes 60 schools.
The contract will see RFM deliver planned and reactive maintenance including small projects and small works, as well as providing a 24-hour help desk.
The new arrangement, which has been put in place following the end of the contract with the previous provider, will also see some property and facilities management (PFM) services delivered directly by the Council.
The new approach by the Council, which sees Gleeds handling the Professional Services function, enables the Council greater control and flexibility.
RFM was awarded the contract based on its commitment to quality and approach to service delivery and efficiencies. All employees from the incumbent provider will join the RFM business.
Cllr Les Shaw, Cabinet Member for Resources and Property, Wakefield Council, said: “We are pleased to confirm our new partnerships with Robertson. We welcome their expertise to help us deliver the transformation of our property and facilities management services.
“This new approach will give us the control and flexibility we need, whilst also benefitting from the knowledge and expertise of specialists in these areas. It was important to us that we protected and supported jobs of existing colleagues and I am pleased to see so many of them join RFM.”
Adrian Mole, Managing Director, Robertson Facilities Management, said: “As the selected delivery partner for all hard services, our focus will be on ensuring that Wakefield Council has an excellently maintained estate that will provide occupants with high-quality environments.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the new employees, who will bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge of the council’s estate. This previous knowledge will be a huge benefit to Team Robertson as we deliver best in class, transformation services.”
Planned, proactive maintenance is a keystone of every FM strategy. However, with current cost constraints, there are many demands on Facilities Managers’ maintenance budgets. When it comes to drainage and plumbing, however, the expense of repairing blockages or dealing with flooding could vastly exceed the cost of preventative maintenance.
Given your role as an FM Professional, we would love to hear your views, challenges & experiences, and opinions on drainage & plumbing within the workplace.
