Wagstaff Interior’s welcomed back the architecture and design community for their annual Charity Night – this year with a difference. The seller of commercial furniture bet on black for a change this year, with a Casino Night to raise funds for Waste to Wonder and the Global Orphan Empowerment Academy’s Sustainability Cookery School in Gambia.
The event, held at Wagstaff’s London Showroom, Brewhouse Yard in Clerkenwell, welcomed guests to an evening of casino games, exciting raffle draws, and thousands of pounds in prizes. The evening proved to be a remarkable success, with guests raising over an impressive £12,000 through casino games, raffle tickets, and generous donations, all of which will directly support the Waste to Wonder Sustainability Cookery School in Gambia.
The evening featured an impressive array of prizes generously donated by industry partners and sponsors. Standout items included a sophisticated PK1 Chair from Carl Hansen, a prestigious Vitra chair, and stylish Normann Copenhagen pieces including two designer lamps and a statement stool. Technology enthusiasts were treated to Bose headphones and an Apple Watch, while lifestyle prizes included two Red Letter Day experiences, a luxurious Fortnum & Mason hamper, and twelve bottles of Moët champagne. Sports fans had the chance to win two coveted Manchester United tickets, courtesy of Isomi. Other notable prizes included a £250 Bisley voucher, designer Pebble cushions from Davison Highly, five Amazon vouchers worth £50 each, two signed copies of “Wasted” by Conor, and a month of PR services from Informare.
The Casino Night transformed the Clerkenwell Showroom into a betting floor, with proceeds from ticket sales directly supporting the Waste to Wonder initiative, dedicated to sustainable education and community impact in Gambia. Waste to Wonder Worldwide provides a pioneering Ethical Clearance Process for redundant office furniture and equipment on behalf of corporate customers and is an organisation Wagstaff has worked closely with on many projects over the years. Through saving disposal costs while strengthening and supporting the Corporate Responsible and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) aspirations of its customers, Wagstaff has donated over £34 million of redundant office furniture and equipment to over 1400 schools in 40 countries.
Building on the two brands partnerships, Wagstaff values their ongoing support and commitment to Waste to Wonder Worldwide. Furthering on their impact, the two brands are supporting The Global Orphan Empowerment Academy, an organization focused on providing high-quality education and support to orphans and underprivileged children, primarily in Africa. The money raised on Wagstaff’s charity evening is going towards launching the ‘Sustainability Cookery School’ in Gambia – an initiate that builds on the success of ‘School in a Box’ programme. This programme has equipped 1,400 schools in over 400 countries, supported with Wagstaff’s sustainability and social responsibility initiatives.
Matt Clarke, Marketing Director at Umbrella Furniture, reflected on the evening’s success; “We’re incredibly proud to see the A&D community come together in support of Waste to Wonder. This charity aligns with our values around sustainability and global responsibility, and the funds raised tonight will go a long way in making a tangible difference. We thank everyone who attended and contributed to making this night unforgettable.”
