Wilson Vale achieves B Corp status

Bespoke contract caterer, Wilson Vale, has achieved B Corporation Certification. As one of the select few caterers to achieve this prestigious recognition, Wilson Vale has been acknowledged for its integrity and commitment to sustainable growth.

Becoming a B Corp requires companies to undergo rigorous review of their operational impact and business model, assessed against the B Lab pillars of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. For Wilson Vale, its measurable commitments fulfilled B Corp’s high standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.

Recognised for its sustainable growth pledges built on core values of retaining craft skills in cooking, nurturing people to shine and protecting nature have led to B Corp status. Key highlights include:

  • Community connection and local supplier support – Wilson Vale works with over 300 local suppliers across the UK, supporting communities and maintaining high standards for product quality and environmental practices. Achieving a boost in job growth by over 15 per cent last year has also added value to the communities in which it operates.
  • Strong diversity and inclusion commitments – Wilson Vale proudly boasts significant internal promotion rates with 93 per cent of the operational support team and 83 per cent of the central leadership team promoted internally. Additionally, 50 per cent of the board and 54 per cent of the workforce are women.
  • Environmental initiatives that lead from the front – At the company’s Leicestershire headquarters, Wilson Vale has implemented a 100-kilowatt solar array, a Daikin heat-pump climate control system, and six electric car charging points. It has also optimised its fleet with fully electric cars.

Graeme Watson, ESG Director, commented: “This certification is a key milestone in the history of our business. It’s a powerful verification of our commitment to crafting positive change.”

Melissa Wallbank, Wilson Vale Managing Director added: “For our clients, working with a B Corp caterer means partnering with a company that puts sustainability, inclusivity and accountability at the heart of everything we do – delivering not just high-quality food but a service that prioritises people and the planet that can support their own environmental and social credentials.”
