OCS has secured a three-year soft services contract with one of London’s most iconic and reimagined landmarks, Battersea Power Station.
Claire Rumsey, Managing Director of Destinations, and Tom Anderson, Business Director for Destinations, played pivotal roles in securing this deal, which will see OCS providing cleaning and security services to create a safe, welcoming, and vibrant experience for all who visit this thriving riverside neighbourhood that attracts millions of visitors annually.
This partnership is a significant milestone, fulfilling a long-held vision of OCS UK & Ireland CEO Daniel Dickson. From the early days of Battersea Power Station’s redevelopment, Dickson lived nearby and witnessed its transformation, sparking his aspiration for OCS to support this landmark as its FM provider. He aimed to contribute to Battersea Power Station and establish OCS as a forward-thinking facilities management partner committed to quality, sustainability, innovation and community impact.
The mobilisation of this contract has proven rewarding, with a positive response from new colleagues following an immersive onboarding experience. OCS says its on-site facilities management team is “vital for delivering a high standard of service” at Battersea Power Station, and their “local expertise and knowledge are significant factors” in helping ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
OCS adds it will support each team member with ongoing training, development opportunities, and that by prioritising local recruitment and skills development, it aims to contribute positively to the community while fostering a motivated team aligned with Battersea Power Station’s values and vision.
To further enhance this, OCS will collaborate with the BASE (Battersea Academy for Skills & Employment) Skills Academy, a recruitment service led by Battersea Power Station Development Company. BASE matches employers with job seekers from the Boroughs of Wandsworth and Lambeth. BASE offers access to tailored training and employment pathways that align with the needs of Battersea Power Station and its surrounding community. It equips individuals with the skills to secure meaningful and sustainable employment.
This collaboration will enable OCS to connect with talented individuals from the local area, ensuring our workforce reflects the vibrancy and diversity of Battersea and delivers local economic and social value.
Bruce McDonnell, MD of OCS’ Private Sector FM – UK, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be part of the Battersea Power Station journey. Seeing the positive response from our team on the ground and witnessing the care they bring to their work is inspiring. This partnership is a testament to the OCS values, and we’re honoured to support such an iconic site with services that contribute to a thriving, sustainable community.”
James Cooper, Head of Operations and Risk at Battersea Power Station Estates, commented: “We are delighted to join forces with the OCS team to deliver exceptional security and cleaning services across the Battersea Power Station estate. Guided by our shared vision of ‘Excellence and Beyond,’ we are committed to redefining visitor and resident experience and unlocking the full potential of this iconic development.
“We look forward to growing our partnership with OCS and building a legacy of excellence, innovation, and unparalleled service that enhances the Battersea Power Station experience for all who live and work here and visit.”
