Leeds law firm specifies Dorma moveable walls for adaptable space

Reflecting exceptional growth, the Leeds branch of top UK law firm Mills and Reeves recently relocated to the 2nd floor of the iconic 1 City Square building. Aiming to deliver a state-of-the-art working environment, Style was contracted by Overbury to help create adaptable office space.

The large, open plan meeting area benefits from a glass Dorma Huppe Variflex moveable wall that separates the space to create a substantial, private meeting room. A solid Variflex wall further sub-divides the area into two smaller meeting rooms.

Both the glazed and the solid moveable walls have an impressive 52db acoustic rating, allowing meetings, training sessions and workshops to take place undisturbed.

Mills and Reeve believes in building connections with its clients, its people and the communities it works in, to “Achieve more. Together”. Named as one of the top law firms in the UK for nine years running and featured in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list, 99% of Mills and Reeve staff said they’d recommend it as a good place to work.

With the Leeds office growing exponentially since it opened in 2008, the new office almost doubles the size of the original footprint, occupying 10,200 sq ft and providing ample space to host client events and to create a brilliant networking space in the centre of Leeds.

“This is a really stunning installation and a highly practical solution for Mills and Reeve,” said Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the north.

“The moveable wall perfectly complements the interior design of the building, and thanks to the very high-end acoustics of both the glass and solid system, lively events can run concurrently next to quieter ones.”

For easy access between divided areas, the glass moveable wall features pass doors. This addition makes it practical to leave the dividing wall in place for long periods, only removing it when the full floor space is needed.

For added privacy, the glass wall features frosted manifestation, whilst maintaining a feeling of light and openness throughout the room. Reducing sound reverberation, the solid wall is finished with an Autex Groove patterned acoustic surface.
