Renewable energy and the future of construction is the hot topic at Energy 2018, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC on 9-11 October
With an ever-increasing focus on renewable energy and carbon emissions by government, business and public alike, FM professionals find they need to add yet another string to their already stretched bow. But keeping on top of the trends, products and legislation in this area is difficult and time consuming.
Energy 2018, part of this year’s UK Construction Week (UKCW), focuses solely on renewables, and invites facilities professionals to connect with its global gathering of suppliers, products and speakers. As part of the UK’s largest event for the built environment, there’s guidance on how to meet and beat emission targets with access to more than 650 exhibitors, over 10,000 products, stimulating seminars and CPD sessions.
Facilities managers, procurement coordinators and all those involved in managing estates can access the latest trends, products and services from a global selection of exhibitors including Eland Cables, E.ON Energy, Flogas, g2 Energy, Libra Energy and Total Gas & Power.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
- EcoVolt will be launching its exclusive electric paint on heating system, with a full demonstration system on view.
- Yü Energy will be talking about its new offering, Yü Water. This brand is shaking up the utilities industry by offering bespoke gas, electric and water packages with only one point of contact.
- Rolec EV will be promoting its new DC Rapid and Ultrafast electric vehicle charging ranges and advising professionals on the latest developments, including proposals for electric vehicle charging points to be standard in all new builds.
- The Electrotechnical Contractors Scheme (ECS) will be showcasing its new online system, ECS check, that allows main contractors and clients to verify the skills and qualifications of electrical personnel working on projects.
Nathan Garnett, UKCW Event Director, said: “There’s so much going on in the energy sector at the moment, and we have a great line-up of events and experts at Energy 2018 to challenge policymakers and the industry alike. This show is both a networking hub and a place to discover new technologies and energy-saving ideas within a wider range of interconnected industries. The Innovation Trail is returning to the show, and we’ll be looking at how energy still critically fits into the future of construction, which is our theme for UKCW this year.”
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
The Future of Construction Hub provides an immersive opportunity to discover how digital construction, 3D printing, robotics, AI and AR and modern methods of construction can deliver the new construction sector deal. Coventry University is bringing its virtual reality simulator, currently used as part of its training for construction students, to the hub for visitors to experience.
An Innovation Trail will guide visitors to the latest ideas, products and systems from companies including Carbon-4 Thermal Systems, EcoVolt, Laminaheat and Solecco Solar. Quality Essential Distribution will also be showcasing its new Energy Vault Mini, a fully integrated off-grid solar system with the ability to run up to four devices from 1.5v to 60v.
Free CPD sessions will help provide the skills for the road ahead:
- The direction of energy and sustainability standards, with Dr Gavin Dunn from the Chartered Association of Building Engineers
- The role of daylight and ventilation, with Aaron Sugden from Velux
- The internet of things security, with Dr Gregory Epiphaniou and Professor Prashant Pillai from the University of Wolverhampton
- Re-evaluating building regulation fundamentals, with Richard Harral from the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
Booking is essential for all CPD sessions as spaces are limited, so book your space early.
UKCW health and safety sponsor, OM Group, will also be hosting CPD sessions from its stand. Keep checking the website for further information as the event gets nearer.
