Specialist security provider, Amulet has renewed its contract with Chiltern Railways for three years, with the option to extend for an additional two years.
The contract is worth £2 million per annum and commenced on 1 April 2025.
The renewed partnership builds on a successful 12-year relationship and will see Amulet implement a restructure of security operations, transitioning from static guarding to a more dynamic mobile staffing model across the entire Chiltern network.
Under the new contract, Amulet will provide enhanced security services, providing Travel Safe Officers (TSOs) and static security officers, with increased presence at major stations, including Birmingham Moor Street. The company will deploy approximately 55 security professionals to support Chiltern Railways’ operations.
The successful bid highlighted Amulet’s innovative approach to security management, extensive experience in providing TSOs, and competitive pricing structure. The company’s thorough understanding of Chiltern Railways’ operations and proven track record in similar contracts were key factors in securing the renewal.
Kieran Mackie, MD at Amulet, said: “We are delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with Chiltern Railways. This contract renewal demonstrates our deep understanding of their security requirements. Our team is excited to implement the new mobile staffing approach to deliver more flexible and responsive security coverage across the network. Employees working on this contract will receive an extensive training package and development opportunities, ensuring they are equipped to deliver exceptional service whilst furthering their careers in the security sector.”
Tony Baxter, Operations Director at Chiltern Railways, said: “Security across our network is paramount for the travel experience and the safety of our customers and colleagues. This transition to a more mobile security presence will help us further enhance customer experience while maintaining the high standards of safety and security our customers expect. We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration with Amulet.”
Amulet also recently secured a five-year contract extension with rail operator, Trenitalia c2c, building on a partnership which commenced in 2011.
