Arcus FM has released its fourth annual Sustainability Impact Report, which highlights the company’s substantial progress in emissions reduction, waste recycling, and fleet electrification during the 2023/24 fiscal year.
Aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Arcus says it is committed to establishing rigorous near- and long-term emissions reduction targets. The company aims to reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 42 per cent by 2030 and achieve a 90 per cent reduction by 2040, with these targets currently undergoing detailed validation by the SBTi to align with the latest climate science.
In the coming year, Arcus adds it will continue advancing improvements as part of its Net Zero Pathway. This commitment to science-based targets underscores the company’s dedication to long-term environmental impact reduction, operational resilience, and supporting customer sustainability objectives.
Building on a previous recycling rate of 65 per cent, Arcus achieved a 71 per cent recycling and reuse rate this year, with only 3.86 per cent of waste directed to landfill. This accomplishment underlines the company’s dedication to a circular economy and sustainable waste practices across its service operations.
In addition, Arcus has bolstered its green fleet by ordering 50 new electric vehicles for deployment in the coming year.
Stephen Saunders, Chief Operating Officer at Arcus FM said: “By setting ambitious emission reduction targets and enhancing our waste management practices, we are not just meeting industry standards but leading the way in sustainable facilities management. Sustainability is a shared responsibility at Arcus, and our commitment includes supporting our people and the communities we serve.”
Chris Green, Chief Executive Officer at Arcus FM added: “Sustainability is central to who we are at Arcus. This report demonstrates our commitment to creating a positive environmental impact while delivering exceptional service. We are proud to lead by example, building a more sustainable future for our customer, colleagues, and communities.”
