Housing association Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) has appointed energy and regeneration specialist, Equans, to decarbonise over 500 homes in London.
The two-year project, which is funded by the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), will see Equans working in partnership with Notting Hill Genesis to retrofit and improve properties across all 32 of London’s boroughs – creating more efficient and sustainable housing.
The project commenced in October 2023, and will see the properties benefit from a comprehensive decarbonisation retrofit programme. Efficiency upgrades such as insultation, new windows and doors and draughtproofing will be made, alongside new energy efficient boilers, better ventilation, solar panels and other cost saving measures. The programme aims to achieve a minimum EPC rating of C to all properties through a ‘Fabric First’ approach.
Kevin Jones, Divisional Director at Equans UK and Ireland, said: “We are pleased to be able to use our expertise on this project with Notting Hill Genesis to upgrade people’s homes, making them more energy efficient, sustainable and improving the quality of living. Having a home that is well insulated and with better heating appliances means that bills are likely to be lower, so it will help to tackle fuel poverty as well.”
Equans, a UK market leader in delivering sustainable regeneration for local authority and housing sectors, has been responsible for nearly 20 per cent of all successful applications across waves 1 and 2 of SHDF, and is currently delivering numerous projects with clients across the country to decarbonise housing and public buildings.
Planned, proactive maintenance is a keystone of every FM strategy. However, with current cost constraints, there are many demands on Facilities Managers’ maintenance budgets. When it comes to drainage and plumbing, however, the expense of repairing blockages or dealing with flooding could vastly exceed the cost of preventative maintenance.
Given your role as an FM Professional, we would love to hear your views, challenges & experiences, and opinions on drainage & plumbing within the workplace.
