Cleaning and security services provider, Excellerate Services Group (ESUK), has joined forces with retail industry charity the Retail Trust to introduce a range of new measures to support its employees’ health and wellbeing.
The partnership will provide ESUK’s 5,500 members of staff, working across more than 2,600 retail sites with access to a range of personalised wellbeing resources. These include access to a virtual GP, financial aid, counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy and discounts and rewards, as well as the Retail Trust’s 24-hour wellbeing helpline.
Research by the Retail Trust for its 2023 health of retail report has found eight in 10 people working within UK retail are now experiencing deteriorating mental health, with the rising cost-of-living and an increase customer abuse some of the contributing factors.
Sarah Newland, ESUK’s Group Head of People Services said: “I am so pleased that we have partnered with the Retail Trust to offer this fantastic workplace wellbeing service to all of our colleagues. At ESUK, our people are the heart of our business.
“Every colleague will be given access to the range of personalised mental health resources, which includes counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy for themselves and younger people in their care, as well as access to discounts, rewards and financial aid. We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our colleagues, and in creating a healthy and happy workforce.”
Chris Brook-Carter, Chief Executive of the Retail Trust, added: “We’re partnering with ESUK to give its people some of the vital support they need to take control of their wellbeing.
“Businesses of all shapes and sizes also work with the Retail Trust in this way and we’d encourage even more to join us as retail workers continue to face huge uncertainty around everything from levels of abuse in-store to the rising cost-of-living.”
