Houston & Hawkes is celebrating B Corp Month

As the first UK caterer to achieve B Corp certification, Houston & Hawkes is marking B Corp Month this March with a series of impactful activations designed to engage teams, customers, and partners while reinforcing its commitment to purpose-driven business practices.

A core focus of the month-long campaign is ethical sourcing. In 2024, 48 per cent of Houston & Hawkes’ total spend went to SMEs, diverse suppliers, and social enterprises, including fellow B Corps. This March, the company is spotlighting some of its key B Corp partners, making it easier for customers to choose products that align with shared values. Supplier brand activations across multiple locations will provide a platform for these businesses to tell their stories and connect directly with customers.

To raise awareness of the B Corp movement, Houston & Hawkes is introducing QR code activations across its locations, linking to an informative content. Clear signage will also be in place throughout its sites, highlighting the five B Corp pillars—governance, workers, community, environment, and customers—alongside the concrete steps the company is taking to support each area.

Houston & Hawkes is also ensuring its teams are immersed in the B Corp ethos. A B Corp Seminar brought together senior team members for an inspiring event featuring thought-provoking discussions on the impact and responsibilities of being a B Corp. The evening included a fully B Corp-certified bar and a menu of hyper-local, seasonal, and low-carbon dishes, proving that sustainability and exceptional hospitality go hand in hand.

A key element of Houston & Hawkes’ B Corp commitment is sustainability, and this March, all locations will actively participate in Food Waste Action Week. Initiatives will include:

  • Zero-waste specials, crafted from commonly discarded ingredients to showcase creative ways to repurpose food.
  • Live chef demonstrations, teaching smart preparation techniques to maximise ingredient use and reduce waste in kitchens.
  • Food donations, ensuring surplus food supports local charities and community initiatives instead of going to waste.

Houston & Hawkes Head of ESG and Safety, James Carr said: “This month is a fantastic opportunity to bring our B Corp commitments to life in a way that is both visible and engaging. We want our teams, customers, and partners to not only understand what we do, but why we do it. By embedding sustainability, ethical sourcing, and community engagement into everything we offer, we’re reinforcing our purpose as a responsible caterer.”
