IWFM launches global mentoring service

The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) has launched IWFM Mentoring, a one-to-one, personalised career support service to help its members gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to perform at a higher level via impartial, non-judgmental guidance and support.

The programme is available as an inclusive benefit for IWFM Associate, Member, Certified and Fellow membership grades, and non-members who receive a complimentary one-year membership while studying for an IWFM qualification.

When an eligible mentee registers with the programme, they are paired with a highly experienced FM professional – a mentor – who will work with them to agree their development and career goals and provide ongoing support towards achieving them. To ensure consistent high standards, mentors receive training and resources, and mentees’ skills and knowledge are developed in line with the IWFM Professional Standards.

IWFM CEO Linda Hausmanis commented: “IWFM Mentoring perfectly matches those seeking personal support to achieve their professional development goals with the talent and experience of our most distinguished members, ready to give back to the profession they love. It’s a double win!

“And the evidence backs this need. Our research found that more than half of employers do not provide FMs with mentoring opportunities. It also suggested that women favour mentoring over other development methods; and that mentoring could play a key role in making FM more diverse and inclusive.”
