Mitie has been awarded Silver status within The 5% Club in recognition of its progress towards achieving 5% of its workforce in earn and learn positions. This includes apprentices, graduates on training schemes, sponsored students and interns. The 5% Club collectively supports 1.9 million employees, with more than 108,000 individuals participating in earn and learn schemes, which enable people from all backgrounds to train and reskill.
Mitie has invested £15.2 million in apprenticeships since 2017, currently employing over 1,400 apprentices, which its Apprenticeship Levy spend has doubled since 2021. It has increased the number of learners by 50 per cent in the same timeframe, which led to it recently being listed as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer for the third consecutive year.
Apprenticeships cover a diverse range of areas, from Women in Leadership schemes to Engineering, Heat Pump, Digital, and Accountancy programmes. A significant part of its strategy is also placed on shaping the skills of the future, and central to this is providing development opportunities that address key skills gaps such as green and digital skills.
