New Group MD appointed as Style celebrates 25 years

At Style’s 25th-year celebration party, Co-founder Julian Sargent passed the baton to Michael Porter, new Group MD, who will lead the business forward, while Sargent transitions to Chairman.

Style, a UK supplier of moveable wall systems, launched in 1999. Partnering with global moveable wall manufacturer, Dorma Huppe, and bringing the vertical-rising, Skyfold partition to the UK market, Style quickly became known for its extensive portfolio of moveable, folding and sliding walls.

By 2011 Style had achieved three quality management standards and went on to pioneer sustainability within the sector by becoming the first ever UK supplier of Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certified moveable walls.

In 2012 a service and maintenance division was established and the London showroom opened in 2014. Shortly after, Style became the first partitioning company to make BIM objects for their folding wall systems.

Continuing to innovate, Style spearheaded the shift to fully automatic moveable walls and in 2021, as demand for glass solutions soared, strengthened its partnership with the dormakaba Group to offer its range of non-acoustic interior glass Horizontal Sliding Walls (HSW), folding sliding wall (FSW) and HSW Flextherm solutions.

Since its inception, Style has won 18 coveted FIS Contractors awards, 13 Gold and five Silver. Not just relying on outstanding products, the company continuously invested in its people, technology, and processes.

Speaking about the last 25 years in business Sargent said: “I’m immensely proud of all we have achieved. It’s been a team effort, and our reputation has been built through the hard work of exceptional people, many of whom have been with us since the beginning.”

On Porter’s appointment he added: “Michael has unbelievable experience of the moveable wall sector. Since joining us in 2018, as part of a long–term succession plan, he confirmed himself to be the natural choice to lead the business into the future.”
