NIC Group launches ‘groundbreaking’ in-house apprenticeship programme

The Department of Education has awarded NIC Group a place on the Apprentice Provider and Assessment Register, enabling the business to deliver its own apprenticeships in-house.

As the first Employer Provider for Apprenticeships in its field this initiative will enable NIC Group to “revolutionise” the way cleaning services are delivered and elevate standards across the industry.

The milestone represents the first of many Learning and Career development initiatives NIC Group is working towards since its acquisition of Worldweaver Training and Development five months ago. The company says that by leveraging its extensive expertise and industry insights, it is introducing a “groundbreaking model” that combines high-quality cleaning services with unparalleled employment opportunities.

Key highlights of the initiative include:

  1. Innovative Employment Model: NIC Group’s initiative introduces a novel employment model that empowers cleaners to become direct employees of NIC Group while receiving comprehensive training, benefits, and career advancement opportunities. This innovative approach not only enhances job security and stability for cleaners but also raises the bar for professionalism and quality in the cleaning industry.
  2. Integrated Training Programs: As the first employer provider in the cleaning industry, NIC Group has proven it’s dedicated to investing in the professional development of its workforce. Through tailored training programs and ongoing support, it equips cleaners with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles and deliver exceptional service to its clients.

John Spencer, NIC Group Chairman said: “We are absolutely thrilled to announce the launch of our groundbreaking, trailblazing apprenticeship programme! We are the first, privately owned, cleaning provider to gain this recognition in our ability to train, educate and advance the careers of all our colleagues. This isn’t just another training initiative; it’s a bold step towards revolutionising the cleaning industry.

“Our trailblazing apprenticeship is designed to redefine what it means to be a cleaner. Through innovative curriculum and hands-on experience, apprentices will not only learn essential cleaning techniques but also develop leadership skills and sustainability practices. But it doesn’t stop there – this programme is a catalyst for change. Our initiative embodies our unwavering commitment to professionalism, integrity, and excellence, and we are excited to set a new standard of excellence in the industry.”

Laura Sterling, People Development Director added: ‘’Launching our own cleaning apprenticeship, as an employer-provider, ensures skills are kept in-house, bringing a myriad of benefits to NIC, our clients and apprentices alike.

“For NIC, it means cultivating a highly skilled workforce tailored to the specific needs of our clients and their facilities, ensuring continuity and efficiency in operations. Every one of our apprenticeships will be bespoke to our ways of working and our clients specifications, whilst ensuring we deliver the knowledge, skills and behaviours out lined in the curriculum.’’

Navigating FM efforts to sustainability

As environmental protection demands unified action, transparency, and heightened awareness, Biological Preparations has launched an initiative to catalyse sustainability efforts within the FM sector.

FM businesses face unique challenges and heightened expectations of eco-initiatives from their clients. Yet, behind the scenes in FM businesses, many environmental initiatives, rollouts and even planning, are not broadcasted and transparent.

Have your say: Sustainability Trends in FM

The UK biotech company’s five-minute, anonymous FM-focused survey, offers FM professionals of all hierarchies with a platform to voice their perspectives and share their experiences. The results from this survey will then be analysed and presented as an industry-specific report, which aims to guide FM businesses helping them benchmark trends, gain clarity on industry challenges, and map out goals and metrics towards sustainability.
