Pattenmakers opens entries for Future Leader FM Award

Livery company the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers has commenced its search for the next winner of its coveted annual FM award. This Award recognises a future leader in FM, rewarding a talented early-career professional with a unique personal development opportunity funded by the livery.

Entry is free and is open to newcomers working in the Workplace and Facilities Management sectors, who have a maximum of five years’ experience.

The closing deadline is 5 August 2024. All the information needed to enter the Pattenmakers Future Leader FM Award 2025 is available here, which includes a link to the online entry form.

The Pattenmakers is one of the historic Livery Companies of the City of London with its origins dating back to the 14th century. In recent years the Company has become the Livery home of the facilities management industry.

The winner of the prestigious Pattenmaker Future Leader Award receives expert support to create a varied and bespoke personal development programme, including off-site courses and a programme of customised work placements designed to broaden their perspective. The training programme will be developed in full consultation with the winner’s line manager or employer and is up to the value of £2,000. There is also a small financial bursary kindly donated by i-FM to the value of £500. This bursary is to assist the winner with their FM journey and to be able to participate in industry events or pursue additional qualifications or memberships in trade bodies.

Recent winners have included young facilities managers from CBRE, Bouygues, Atalian Servest, Atlas Worklace Services, Hermes, the British Computer Society (now BCS) and ISS Facility Services.  Many of these winners have seen their careers accelerated due to the experience and the exposure.

This is an ideal opportunity to encourage the development of enthusiastic and deserving newcomers and future leaders within the FM industry. Employers may nominate more than one member from their organisation. All shortlisted candidates will be invited free of charge to attend with their line manager the FM&BE trade dinner held on 16 September 2024 at Butchers’ Hall.

The Award is customarily presented to the winner by the Lord Mayor of London at the Pattenmakers’ Annual Banquet held at the Mansion House in January each year.

The winner will also be announced at the annual the trade dinner, where they will receive the Freedom of the Company, with the opportunity to apply for the Freedom of the City of London at a later stage. They will also be invited to attend the annual Workplace Futures Conference, an ideal learning and networking opportunity involving the most senior leaders in the sector.
