The GPA achieves significant environmental accreditation

Following an external audit, the Government Property Agency’s Environmental Management System (EMS) has been accredited to the international standard for EMS ISO14001, marking a key milestone in the GPA’s approach to environmental preservation and enhancement.

Used by organisations around the world to demonstrate a systematic approach to continual improvement, the standard requires an organisation to demonstrate it understands its environmental impacts, its stakeholders’ needs and an organisation-wide approach to managing environmental performance.

Mel Weaver, Sustainability Manager of the GPA’s Workplace Services team and Chair of the EMS Working Group, said: “We are really pleased and proud as a team that we’ve achieved ISO14001. This is proof of our continued commitment to consider sustainability across the GPA’s activities and will provide extra assurance to our clients.”

As the strategic leader of sustainability across the government’s office portfolio, the GPA is committed to reducing environmental impact across the entire estate it manages through introducing a range of innovative programmes and best-practice.

Since 2021, the agency has achieved significant results, saving 3,646 tonnes of carbon dioxide (tCO2e), and is targeting even more as its sustainability programmes mature.

Webinar: Using AI learning to improve frontline staff engagement

Frontline workers form the backbone of facilities management services, serving as the face of the brand and interacting directly with customers. Yet research by both L&G and the Living Wage Foundation reveals the majority feel overlooked and expendable.

Accelerating the problem is a growing technology gap. Despite having 2.7 billion deskless workers worldwide, representing 80 per cent of the global workforce, only one per cent of software and technology investments has been allocated to this segment. This means there is a huge disconnect between frontline workers and their headquarters, leading to lack of sufficient training, communication challenges and low employee retention.

For this webinar, FMJ has teamed up with frontline training platform Lingio to bring together a panel of experts, to discuss how easy-to-use and efficient AI tools can help create engaging and gamified learning experiences that fit the needs of underserved deskless workers. The result? Better software and learning experiences lead to improved staff engagement and reduced staff turnover by up to 95 per cent, according to McKinsey.
