The Royal Parks awards landscape maintenance contract to Gavin Jones Ltd

Gavin Jones Ltd, part of the Nurture Group, has secured a four-year deal with The Royal Parks charity to provide landscape maintenance services at The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill.

The contract, which was awarded following a competitive tender process, commences on 8 June and will see Royal Warrant holder Gavin Jones Ltd tasked with conserving and enhancing The Regent’s Park’s renowned horticultural displays at locations including The Queen Mary’s Gardens, The Avenue Gardens and St John’s Lodge Garden – planting up to 76,000 spring bedding plants, 73,000 bulbs and 69,000 summer bedding plants each year. Gavin Jones Ltd will also employ and support The Royal Parks’ horticultural apprentices and volunteers.

The team will help protect and enhance the park’s biodiversity, to ensure that the parks remain a refuge for wildlife in the heart of London. This includes maintenance of important meadow, acid grassland, woodlands and aquatic habitats – including lakes and reedbeds.

The new contract will also prioritise sustainability by promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy, efficient water use, continuing the roll out of an electric fleet of vehicles, green waste recycling and efficient waste management.

The Royal Parks’ Director of Parks, Darren Share, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gavin Jones Ltd back to The Royal Parks. Their experienced staff will ensure we can deliver the highest standards of horticultural excellence in The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill to protect, conserve, maintain and care for these precious green spaces so that they can be enjoyed by everyone.

“Looking ahead, we’ll be working closely with Gavin Jones Ltd to improve the sustainability of our operations and the abundance and diversity of wildlife.  By delivering excellence in landscape maintenance this park will continue to thrive as a vital green space in the city, to boost everyone’s wellbeing, now and in the future.”

Gareth Kirkwood, the Nurture Group’s CEO commented: “Gavin Jones Ltd is honoured to once again serve as the custodian for two of the Royal Parks’ famous urban green spaces – Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of horticultural excellence, ensuring these precious oases in the capital remain accessible and enjoyed by all.

“Our dedicated team, supported by our status as a London Living Wage employer, is excited to contribute to the conservation and enhancement of these iconic landscapes, from the breathtaking floral displays to the diverse wildlife habitats.
