Tivoli has commenced operations as the new grounds maintenance service provider for West Sussex County Council at over 130 corporate sites.
The contract, which runs from 1 October 2023 until 30 September 2026 with a possible one-year extension, sees Tivoli completing grass-cutting, shrub and rose bed maintenance, strimming, litter picking, hard surface maintenance, hedge cutting, and annual bedding displays across the county. This includes libraries, fire stations, youth centres, social services locations, and other miscellaneous sites.
The key elements of the successful Tivoli tender included investment in new equipment such as battery powered hand tools, as well as staff training and upskilling. Tivoli’s social value commitments for the contract duration are around creating local employment opportunities; supporting local suppliers and SMEs; engaging with local community projects; making a positive environmental impact; and reducing water consumption.
Robert Cunliffe, Tivoli’s Business Development Director, said: “We are delighted to have won this contract with West Sussex County Council. Maintaining the landscape is an important investment and, in the current challenging climate, tangible benefits are essential. We are committed to providing an operational solution that will deliver a quality service, which all stakeholders can be proud of. Our main focus will be to deliver the right culture of continuous improvement, efficiencies and value of money to the county and its residents.”
Planned, proactive maintenance is a keystone of every FM strategy. However, with current cost constraints, there are many demands on Facilities Managers’ maintenance budgets. When it comes to drainage and plumbing, however, the expense of repairing blockages or dealing with flooding could vastly exceed the cost of preventative maintenance.
Given your role as an FM Professional, we would love to hear your views, challenges & experiences, and opinions on drainage & plumbing within the workplace.
