Facilities management firm, Vertas Group, has raised over £23,000 (including gift aid) for its charity partner, Cancer Research UK (CRUK), through its social value initiative, Exec Experiences, which brought together Vertas Group’s Board of Directors and 44 colleagues in a series of challenging and inspiring events.
The Exec Experiences initiative saw Vertas Group Directors and colleagues take part in five unique challenges over the past months, each designed to test their endurance, teamwork, and commitment to making a difference. The challenges included a Ryder Cup golf tournament, a half marathon, a cycling challenge through the Derbyshire hills, a climb up Mount Snowdon and Climbing a Scottish Graham, Ben Venue.
These activities united the Vertas family around a common cause: raising funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK, with the company raising an incredible overall total of £28,000 for its 2023/2024 charity year.
Speaking about the initiative, Ian Surtees, MBA FIoD, Chief Executive Officer of Vertas Group, said: “Our Exec Experiences initiative was designed to bring our leadership and colleagues closer together while contributing to a cause that touches the lives of so many. These events have proved a great way of engaging colleagues at geographically diverse locations. Together, we’ve not only pushed our physical limits but also demonstrated the power of teamwork and compassion. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved for Cancer Research UK.”
Cancer Research UK expressed its gratitude for the support from Vertas Group, recognising the importance of corporate partnerships in advancing research efforts to one day beat cancer.

Cancer Research UK has been Vertas Group’s charity partner since 2017, and the total corporate fundraising since this date now reaches £77,279.31.
