BALDWIN BOXALL LEADS THE WAY TO SAFETY
WITH VIGIL3
Voice alarm and life safety expert,
Baldwin Boxall, presented its next
generation EN54-certified voice
alarm system, VIGIL3, at Firex 2019.
Built on decades of experience,
VIGIL3 is Baldwin Boxall’s most
flexible, scalable and powerful
system to date.
Built on a fault-tolerant Ethernet
backbone that requires no Ethernet
switches, VIGIL3 is entirely modular
for complete scalability. Rather than
a centralised voice alarm router,
inputs and outputs are now delivered
via modules – inputs in blocks of two or four, and outputs in blocks of eight –
which can easily be distributed across a project; enabling systems to grow with
customers’ needs up to a maximum of 400 inputs and 800 outputs.
The amplifier modules have also been completely revisited for even greater
e iciency and performance.
Configuration and control couldn’t be easier thanks to Baldwin Boxall’s VIGIL3
large format touch screen which enables multi-layer graphical control without
the need for a PC. It’s completely configurable by the customer with absolutely
no programming required and provides single-point access for operation,
configuration, monitoring and reporting.
In short, VIGIL3 is suitable for any size system, from a single, simple rack up to
large, complex configurations with hundreds of inputs and outputs.

CHUBB HONOURED WITH TWO GOLD AWARDS
FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Chubb Systems Limited has received a Gold Award from the Royal Society
for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the seventh consecutive year,
and Chubb Fire & Security Limited received its fourth Gold Award. RoSPA
Gold Award winners are
recognised for achieving a
high level of performance
while demonstrating welldeveloped
occupational
health and safety
management systems and
culture, outstanding control
of risk, and low levels of error,
harm and loss.
Chubb is a part of Carrier,
a leading global provider of innovative heating, ventilating and air conditioning
(HVAC), refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies.
In addition to the award, Chubb Systems received a gold medal in recognition
of achieving the top Gold Award for seven consecutive years.
Mark Redding, Head of Environmental Health and Safety at Chubb Fire &
Security, said: “The RoSPA Awards allow us to visibly demonstrate to sta and
customers that Chubb is committed to health and safety and that our systems,
processes and success in this area have been recognised by a prestigious

DEMAG KBK EXTENDING CRANES FOR
OPTIMUM USE OF WORKSPACE
Demag Cranes & Components
has added overhung and
extending configurations to its
KBK Aluline light crane system.
Such solutions are designed
for applications where there
is a requirement to move
loads beyond the crane
runway span dimension. They
enable operators to perform
li© ing and positioning tasks
between pillars and columns or deposit loads in aisles and free areas between
assembly zones and lines. Depending on the load capacity, design and profile
section size, the range can be extended by up to 3,100 mm. Crane extensions
to either side of the track runway span dimension may also be specified.
Compared with Demag’s conventional KBK crane kit, this configuration
has a lower headroom dimension, allowing users to benefit from 120 to 220
mm more hook path, dependent on profile size. Extending and overhung
components may be added easily and quickly to existing KBK installations to
improve productivity, without the need to install additional crane runways.
The KBK Aluline system is suitable for a wide range of operational
requirements in production, assembly and shipping applications. The system
is based on aluminium sections and smooth running trolleys. The result is a
system that provides the operator with hands-on support for the movement
and positioning of loads, improved ergonomics and reduced physical e ort for
material handling.

BOILERMAG INDUSTRIAL FILTER PROTECTS
YORKSHIRE MUSEUM’S NEW HEATING SYSTEM
The Yorkshire Museum is the
latest high profile building
to protect its heating system
with a 4” BoilerMag XT
Industrial boiler filter. The
work was carried out by Selby
based Frogmech Ltd, who
were faced with the task of
stripping out the entirety of
the existing boiler plant room
and pipework, and replacing
everything with a new system.
Frogmech Ltd replaced the existing boilers with high e iciency Hoval Ultragas
condensing boilers including new flues, as well separating the existing tank feed
heating system from the new boilers with a plate heat exchanger to stop the
old system contaminating the new boiler plant. New Grundfos pump sets were
installed to separate the museum into heating zones, enabling each zone to be
controlled through individual heating setpoints. In addition, a new control panel
and so© ware was installed to create a fully weather compensating, gas proving
system with internet access.
The new heating system also received full system treatment and dosing using
the BoilerMag Inhibitor and Cleaning chemicals alongside the BoilerMag XT
installation, as well as a strainer, de-aerator and chemical dosing pot. With all this
in place, debris and air will be continuously removed from the existing system,
protecting the heating pipework and components, and allowing Frogmech Ltd to
treat and dose the system in the future.
