We believe it is important to work with the client
to understand which product represent best
value and how contracts/payments can be set out
to ensure there is at least an instant small win,
followed by long term significant wins. Too o en in
the past clients make short term decisions due to
budget constraints or access to funding for ‘green’
projects being too time consuming. We make
things easy by creating flexible contracts tailored
to the individual client rather than
proposing rigid contract terms
as the traditional market players
do. Nothing is o the table with
us whether that be outright
purchase, rental, finance, full
installation or supply only.
We are o en contacted by the
facilities and buildings managers
who wish to understand how
much energy and cost can
be saved annually and over a
products lifespan. This helps
clients to understand the return
on investment and see what level
of purchase makes financial sense.
Without a clear understanding of the facilities that
products are going into, poor long-term financial
decisions are o en made, either the product
does not have a su icient lifespan to cope or user
feedback is poor. We are happy to conduct on-site
testing and demonstration of the products until the
right solution is identified.
Our end user clients include Oxford, Cambridge
and Durham University, The London stock
exchange, Natwest, Santander, KFC, Harry
Ramsdens, The BBC, B & Q just to name a few and
all major electrical wholesalers supply our products.
The Youth Hostelling Association is one client that
demonstrates our in-house capability. With over 100
sites across the UK, mainly in remote locations and
highly sensitive listed buildings, including a 900-
year old Castle, we have carried out very sensitive
installations to the highest standard. We created a
package which despite the complexity and cost of
the installs was still financially viable for them in the
short and long term will generate huge savings and
waste reduction for them.
Whoever you are we can assist you to identify long
term, positive environmental solutions that deliver
real value for your organisation.

LEAFIELD AQUAPOD SOLVES THE
DREGS PROBLEM
“I want to put my disposable co ee cup in
the bin but what should I do with the liquid
dregs?” A problem we have all encountered.
Should I tip it all in the bin and hope for the
best or attempt surreptitiously to water a
nearby, unsuspecting potted plant?
Leafield Environmental provides
an e icient answer in the form of the
Aquapod, a stand-alone liquid collection
reservoir with a 9.5 litre capacity; the ideal
complement to any waste receptacle sited
where drinks might be consumed.
Designed for internal use and standing
some 664mm high, the AquaPod is a simple
seamless moulding to ease cleaning, with
no tight radii to form dirt traps.
Lightweight, yet inherently strong, the
base is made from up to 100% recycled
material. A clever moulded in handle
makes handling and emptying a simple
proposition.
Drinks dregs in dry mixed recycling can
pose a major problem to janitorial sta and
recycling organisations alike. At less than
£85 (excluding VAT), AquaPod from Leafield Environmental could well be the
solution.

SENSATA LAUNCHES NEW WHITE PAPER ON
ROLE OF PRESSURE SENSORS IN NEW WATER
PUMP DESIGN
Sensata Technologies, one of
the world’s leading suppliers
of sensor, industrial control,
power management and
electrical protection solutions,
has published a new white
paper that shows how new
technology water pumps with
pressure sensors are meeting
the needs of 21st Century living.
Distributing water on a large
scale has been a challenge
that the world has tackled for decades. It is a particular challenge in high-rise
buildings, and with a trend for designers to build up in urban areas, rather than
out, it is a challenge that has become a new focus for design engineers.
The White Paper looks in particular at how ‘old technology’ water pumps that
tend to operate at full speed or not at all are being replaced by Variable Speed
Pumps (VSP) that use a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) or Variable Speed Drive
(VSD) to continuously optimise the pump speed and power consumption while
maintaining constant outlet pressure of the pump.
The White Paper is entitled Improving the E iciency and Reliability of Water
Systems with Variable Speed Pumps and Pressure Sensors and authored
to Daniel Mullen, Product Line Manager at Sensata Technologies. It can be
downloaded from www2.sensata.com/water.
