MITIE CREATES HEAD OF DEFENCE ROLE
Mitie has appointed Charles Antelme DSO to the newly created role of Head of Defence.
Antelme joins Mitie from Skarbek Associates, where he served as the Managing
Partner and Board Member responsible for the growth and development of the firm.
Antelme spent 18 years in the Armed Forces, including with UK Special Forces, where
he worked to the highest strategic levels in multi-agency and international operations,
both in combat and advisory roles.
Antelme brings a wealth of knowledge in the defence sector, as well as extensive
leadership experience in strategic growth. In this new role, he will be responsible for
strategic development of Mitie’s Defence business, including demonstrating capability
to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).
This is a key appointment in Mitie’s commitment to support the government and the wider public
sector following Mitie’s appointment to the Crown Commercial Service framework for Defence.
HOMES FOR STUDENTS APPOINTS COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR
National student accommodation manager, Homes for Students, has appointed
Mandy Blackburn to the role of Compliance Director. Blackburn joins Homes
for Students from MYSHON supported living specialists and will have overall
responsibility for co-ordinating compliance across the group. She previously
worked for Derwent Students where she achieved all three main ISO accreditations.
Blackburn will help the company to meet its business objectives for 2019/20
with the aim of achieving accreditation of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 for all student
accommodation schemes managed under the Homes for Students and Prestige
Student Living brands. Her role will involve embedding a compliance culture and framework
throughout the business, along with managing associated risks and reporting such to the board.
MARTIN BELL TAKES OVER
AS NEW CHAIR OF IWFM
The Institute of Workplace
and Facilities Management
(IWFM) has named Martin
Bell as its new Chair. He
succeeds Stephen Roots who
announced he was stepping
down a er two years in the
role.
A Fellow of the Institute, Bell has worked in the
profession for 22 years and currently holds a senior
role at Nestlé Workplace Solutions, providing
global FM guidance to a number of businesses.
He has also held senior positions at Johnson
Controls (Associate Director Consulting: Global
Workplace Solutions), PwC (Consultant), Norland
Managed Services (Associate Director – Strategic
Development), Bell Associates (Director – FM
Strategic Consulting), Gardiner & Theobald LLP
(Associate Director; Strategic Asset & Facilities
Management Consultancy), and Unilever (Global
Workplace & FM Service Development Manager).
Bell has been a volunteer of the Institute since
2012, from which he now steps down due to his
new role, and then as a Board member.
