 Hines to acquire
 property
 management
 fi rm, Helix
 International real estate
fi rm, Hines, has agreed to
acquire Helix, one of the UK’s
 leading specialist commercial
 property management
 companies. The acquisition,
 which is subject to FCA
 approval, signals the launch
 of Hine’s new customercentric
 and experience
 focused management
 services and operations
 platform in Europe.
 Helix has a dedicated
 team of 60 professionals
 providing the full spectrum
 of property management
 services, managing a UKwide
 commercial real estate
 portfolio, spanning all asset
 classes, which is valued at
 over £3.5 billion.
 The two companies
 already enjoy a close, longstanding
 relationship, with
 Helix providing property
 management services across
 the majority of properties in
 the Hines UK portfolio.
 Helix will become part of
 the wider Hines business,
 continuing to service its
 wide-ranging high-quality
 client base, alongside Hines’
 owned assets.
 Led by Amy Soar, the
 Helix board and senior
 management team will
 remain in place, with Hines
 Director Ivan Harrison
 transferring to Helix to
assume the role of UK Head
 of Operations, to facilitate
 the integration of the two
 companies.
 The acquisition represents
 a signifi cant milestone for
 Hines as it develops its
 management services and
 operations off ering. The
 new platform will provide
 an enhanced user and
 customer experience focused
 on liberating occupiers from
 the ineffi ciencies of multiple
 service providers.
 CIWM LAUNCHES NEW
 STRATEGY ‘LEADING THE WAY
 TO A WORLD BEYOND WASTE’
The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) has
launched its new strategy, ‘Leading the Way to a World beyond
Waste’, to support the UK waste and recycling sector in promoting
more sustainable consumption, minimising waste and protecting the
world’s environment and resources for future generations.
The strategy outlines the role the Institution will play in shaping
the future of waste, recycling and resource management, and is fully
aligned with CIWM’s mission to unite, equip and mobilise its professional
community to lead, influence and deliver the science, strategies,
businesses and policies for the sustainable management of resources and
 waste.
Developed in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development
Goals, the strategy is focused on building upon CIWM’s existing assets and
optimising their potential to e ect lasting change. Centred around six
themes, it will ensure CIWM continues to act as a vital change agent for
the move to a low-carbon and circular economy:
  Pioneering professional standards
  Nurturing innovation
  Advocating with an authoritative voice
  Enhancing engagement and connectivity
  Cultivating communities of practice
  Leading through excellence
 In implementing this
 strategy, CIWM says
 it will continue to
 innovate and expand
 its portfolio of highquality
 services while
 leveraging its reputation
 and extensive sphere
of influence to open new opportunities that are consistent with its core
purpose. This will be enabled by maintaining a sound, not-for-profit
 business and considered targeted investment.
